My father has always told stories about witnessing President Franklin D. Roosevelt deliver an address dededicating the Park on September 2, 1940. Dad was only 10 years old at the time. 69 years later, I was indeed proud to atend the rededication ceremony celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
