Mom Hiking

Dad was back from WWII with loads of the U.S. Army issue canvas bivouac equipment. Mom & he loaded up with 3 friends who were seasoned hikers and left from the Clingman's Dome parking lot on the Appalachian Trail headed for Siler's Bald. In camp that night, one of the friends put a hatchet through his foot chopping wood & had to be carried out 8 miles. Mom slipped under the weight of the pack & rolled down the trail. They mostly viewed the mountains from the car after that trip.
